Our Lodge
Norfolk Lodge, established in 1874, meets on the second Monday of every
month from September to June. The Lodge is located on 1101 Highland Avenue
in Needham, Massachusetts.
About Masonry
Freemasonry is the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world.
With lodges in almost every country, you can travel almost any place in the
world and find the warm hand of brotherhood extended to you. In the U.S.
alone, there are over 13,000 lodges. Most small towns have a lodge, and
large cities usually have several.
Masonry as we know it today, most likely grew out of the guilds of operative
stonemasons in Europe who built the castles and cathedrals of the middle ages.
Several of the Founding Fathers in the United States were Freemasons,
for example George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.
What Masons do
Masons are moral, honest men who work together to improve themselves and
their communities. Freemasons in North America contribute on average
around 2 million dollars every single day of the year to various
charities. Masons are responsible for collecting more than 80% of the
blood collected by the Red Cross in Massachusetts. The Child ID program
(CHIP), which reaches thousands of children each year, is operated by Masons.
There are currently around 6 million Freemasons in the world; about 2
million of those are in the United States. The goal of Freemasonry is to
enhance and strengthen the character of the individual man by providing
opportunities for fellowship, charity, education, and leadership based
on the three ancient Masonic tenets; Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.
Do You Want to be a Mason?
